The Muddy Rudder sits on the banks of the Penobscot River overlooking Maine's Queen city. Guests look over the historic Bangor waterfront, once bustling with schooners hauling lumber to ports all over the world. Henry David Thoreau once described the city as a "shining light on the edge of the wilderness".

Gaze from the expansive windows overlooking the Penobscot and envision the dock that supported travelers crossing the river in the early 1900's. The Bon Ton Ferry carried passengers to Bangor right from this location for a penny per person.
